In 2012 the first issue of the German language journal for futures studies, called Zeitschrift für Zukunftsforschung appeared - the first specialised journal on the German market, at least since the journal "analysen und prognosen - über die Welt von morgen" was discontinued in 1981.

K. Steinmüller contributed to the first issues with a four-part paper on the evolution of futures studies in Germany "Zukunftsforschung in Deutschland. Versuch eines historischen Abrisses":

Part 1 covers the history of West German futures studies up to about 1970.

Part 2 tracks the developments in Western Germany till German unification in 1990.

Part 3 adds recent developments including comments on the present state.

Part 4 "Aufstieg und Niedergang der Prognostik" (Rise and Decline of Prognostics) treats the checkered history of futures studies in East Germany.
